Most Popular Solidor Doors 2026: Real Customer Sales | GFD Homes

GFD Homes Reveals the Most Popular Solidor Composite Doors of 2026: What Our Customers Actually Bought

Forget the predictions, forget the opinions.

We've looked at what our customers actually ordered, and the results might surprise you.

Every year, homeowners across the UK face the same question:

Which front door should we choose?

Traditional or contemporary?

Glazed or solid?

Something understated or something that makes the neighbours stop and look?

With so many beautiful Solidor composite doors available, choosing the perfect design isn't always straightforward.

Fortunately, at GFD Homes, we have something rather useful to help: real customer purchasing data.

Rather than simply telling you which designs we think are popular, we've taken a look behind the scenes at the Solidor doors our customers actually ordered between 1 January and 31 October 2026. No surveys. No manufacturer popularity charts. No educated guesses. Just genuine purchasing decisions made by real homeowners. And because we also operate our specialist sister website, Timber Composite Doors, we can see whether customers shopping through different websites are making similar choices.

So, without further ado, let's count down ten of the leading Solidor designs chosen by GFD Homes customers in 2026.

Number 10: Flint Beeston

4.8% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Kicking off our countdown is the Solidor Flint Beeston, a design that combines traditional character with decorative glazing.

The Flint family has long been associated with classic entrance-door styling, and the Beeston variation provides an attractive alternative to a completely solid door.

It's the sort of design that can add personality to a period property without looking out of place on a more modern home.

Interestingly, our sister website Timber Composite Doors recorded twice as many purchases of this particular design as GFD Homes during the same period.

Perhaps that traditional styling appeals especially strongly to customers visiting a website dedicated entirely to timber-core composite doors.

Whatever the reason, it's a lovely design to begin our countdown.

Number 9: Flint 4

6.6% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Another Flint makes an appearance, and we're only at number nine!

The Flint 4 offers homeowners a traditional door design with four glazed sections, creating a distinctive appearance while allowing natural light into the entrance area.

For properties with darker hallways, choosing a glazed front door can make a noticeable difference. But light isn't the only consideration. Different glazing designs, glass finishes and door colours can dramatically change the overall look of a front entrance.

One of the advantages of choosing a Solidor is the ability to personalise the specification rather than simply settling for a standard design.

The Flint 4 also performed well on Timber Composite Doors, suggesting this is a style with appeal across both customer audiences.

Joint Number 7: Edinburgh 2

7.7% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Now we're heading north, at least in name.

The Solidor Edinburgh 2 is a characterful traditional design featuring two glazed sections.

There's something reassuring about a front door that looks as though it belongs to the property. The Edinburgh 2 is particularly worth considering if you're trying to preserve traditional styling while enjoying the benefits of a modern composite door.

Choose a classic colour and traditional glazing for a timeless appearance, or experiment with a darker contemporary finish for something rather different. And here's an interesting detail from our records. GFD Homes customers purchased more Edinburgh 2 doors than customers visiting Timber Composite Doors.

So, although both websites sell the same Solidor brand, the designs customers choose aren't always identical.

Joint Number 7: Beeston GB

7.7% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Sharing seventh position is the Beeston GB.

This traditional glazed design offers plenty of character and is another example of how homeowners can incorporate decorative glass into a front door.

A great front door doesn't have to shout for attention. Sometimes it's the proportions, the glazing and the carefully chosen colour that make the biggest impact. The Beeston GB could be particularly attractive to someone renovating an older property or replacing a tired entrance door with something more sympathetic to the home's character. What makes this result interesting is the consistency between our two websites.

The Beeston GB achieved almost identical purchasing quantities across GFD Homes and Timber Composite Doors. Clearly, this is a design that appeals to both audiences.

Joint Number 4: Flint 1

Screenshot 2026-11-03 at 15.08.19

8.9% of purchases within our featured ten designs

And the Flint collection makes yet another appearance.

By this point, you might be noticing a pattern. The Flint 1 is a traditional design featuring a single glazed section, offering a different balance of privacy and natural light compared with some of its more extensively glazed relatives.

For homeowners who want glazing without making it the dominant feature of their front door, it's certainly one to explore. It also demonstrates why comparing different designs within the same collection is worthwhile. A relatively small change to the glazing arrangement can give a front door an entirely different personality. Our records show that Flint 1 was more popular with GFD Homes customers than with customers of Timber Composite Doors during the period examined.

It's a reminder that even when two retailers offer identical products, the buying preferences of their customers can differ.

Joint Number 4: Flint Solid

8.9% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Who says a beautiful front door needs glazing?

Not our Flint Solid customers.

This design takes a more restrained approach, using a solid door face to create a clean, traditional appearance. For homeowners who place a premium on privacy, a solid front door can be an attractive option. It also offers a wonderful opportunity to let the door colour, furniture and surrounding entrance do the talking.

A carefully chosen colour against traditional brickwork can create a striking result without relying on decorative glazing. And here's another interesting finding. Flint Solid recorded exactly the same number of purchases on both GFD Homes and Timber Composite Doors.

That's a particularly neat result, and one that suggests the solid-door option deserves its place alongside its glazed relatives.

Joint Number 4: Flint Beeston GB

8.9% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Completing our three-way tie for fourth position is the Flint Beeston GB.

If you're thinking that the Flint family seems to be taking over the countdown, you're not imagining it. The Flint Beeston GB brings decorative glazing into a traditional door design, making it another appealing choice for homeowners who want something with a little more detail.

It's worth remembering that choosing your front door involves far more than selecting a style from a catalogue. Door colour, glazing, hardware and the appearance of the surrounding property all contribute to the finished effect. That's why we always encourage homeowners to experiment with different combinations before committing to a design. Interestingly, the Flint Beeston GB achieved almost identical purchasing quantities across our two websites.

A close contest, and another strong showing for the Flint collection.

Number 3: Palermo Solid

Screenshot 2026-11-03 at 16.00.38

11.8% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Finally, a contemporary contender!

Taking third position is the Solidor Palermo Solid, and its appearance near the top of our GFD Homes selection is particularly interesting.

While many of the designs featured so far have traditional styling, the Palermo Solid offers something quite different. Its clean, contemporary appearance makes it worth considering for modern homes or properties undergoing a substantial exterior makeover.

Without decorative glazing dominating the design, the Palermo Solid can create a confident and uncluttered entrance. And this is where our first-party customer data becomes especially revealing. GFD Homes recorded almost three times as many purchases of Palermo Solid as Timber Composite Doors during the same period.

Both websites offer Solidor products, yet this contemporary design has attracted a noticeably stronger response from GFD Homes customers. We can't say exactly why without asking those homeowners directly, but the difference is certainly worth exploring. Perhaps the broader mix of home improvement products available through GFD Homes attracts customers with different design aspirations.

Whatever the explanation, Palermo Solid has firmly established itself among the leading designs in our selection.

Number 2: Flint 2

Screenshot 2026-11-03 at 16.01.48

12.5% of purchases within our featured ten designs

We're getting close to the top, and the Flint family is back again.

Taking second place is Flint 2. Combining traditional styling with two glazed sections, the Flint 2 offers a versatile option for homeowners looking for a classic entrance door.

It's a design that can work with a range of property styles, particularly when the glazing and colour are selected to complement the building. And the purchasing figures make one thing very clear.

Of the ten designs featured in our GFD Homes comparison, Flint 2 is comfortably ahead of most of the competition.

It also performed strongly on Timber Composite Doors, where it was the second most purchased style in the combined report. For homeowners who are drawn to traditional designs, Flint 2 is certainly worth adding to the shortlist.

But there's one door it couldn't quite catch. And that brings us to our number one.

Number 1: Ludlow 2

Screenshot 2026-11-03 at 16.03.05

22.1% of purchases within our featured ten designs

Drum roll, please.

Our number one Solidor design from this selection is the Ludlow 2.

And it didn't just scrape into first place. It finished comfortably ahead of every other design featured in our GFD Homes comparison.

The Ludlow 2 is a classic traditional design with two glazed sections, combining timeless styling with the flexibility to create a personalised entrance.

It's easy to appreciate its appeal. Whether you're looking to complement a traditional brick-built home or add a touch of character to something more contemporary, the Ludlow 2 offers plenty of possibilities. Different colours, glazing options and door furniture can all help transform its appearance. But the really interesting part isn't what we think of the design. It's what our customers actually chose. Ludlow 2 recorded more purchases than any other Solidor style in our featured selection, and it also topped the combined purchasing ranking across GFD Homes and Timber Composite Doors.

In fact, Timber Composite Doors customers purchased even more Ludlow 2 doors than GFD Homes customers during the period. Two different websites. Two different customer audiences. The same winning design. If you're struggling to decide which Solidor front door to choose, the Ludlow 2 is certainly a strong contender to explore.

What Did Our Customers' Choices Tell Us?

Looking at purchasing records across our websites reveals some fascinating differences in customer preferences.

Firstly, traditional styling clearly remains very popular within the designs examined. The Flint collection features repeatedly, with variations in glazing and configuration appealing to different homeowners. Secondly, contemporary designs shouldn't be overlooked. The Palermo Solid performed particularly strongly on GFD Homes, despite being less prominent in the Timber Composite Doors figures.

And finally, the Ludlow 2 achieved something rather impressive. It was the leading design in our combined Solidor records and the strongest performer among the ten featured styles on GFD Homes. Of course, popularity doesn't automatically mean a particular design is right for your property.

Your perfect front door should reflect your home's architecture, your personal preferences and the practical features that matter to you.

But sometimes it's useful to see what other homeowners have chosen before making your own decision.

Your Front Door. Your Choice.

At GFD Homes, we've spent years helping customers transform their properties with carefully selected doors, windows and home improvement products.

One of the biggest advantages of shopping online is being able to explore different styles, colours and specifications before making a decision.

And with our Solidor range, there's plenty to discover. Whether you've fallen in love with the traditional Ludlow 2, prefer the contemporary Palermo Solid or fancy something entirely different, we're here to help you find the right design.

Explore our Solidor composite door collection, compare your favourite styles and build your personalised quotation online. After all, the most popular front door isn't necessarily the best one for you. The best front door is the one you'll love coming home to.
