Door-Stop Threshold Guide

28 September 2026

The threshold is the strip at the bottom of your door frame that you step over. It keeps out draughts and rain, and it decides how easy your doorway is to get through. Door-Stop offers four options, and this guide helps you compare them side by side.

You'll find annotated photos of each threshold from several angles, plus schematic drawings with the measurements:

  • Full PVC (72mm high): the tallest option.

  • Low PVC (49mm high): a lower step, with the same 70mm depth as the full PVC.

  • Wheelchair (15mm high): a slim aluminium threshold with a short ramp, so it's easier to wheel or step over.

  • Wheelchair MDS25 (25mm high, 115mm deep): a longer, deeper ramp designed for mobility access. It's only intended for mobility use and can't sit on a sill.

Think about who uses your door every day. Pushchairs, wheelchairs, and anyone who finds steps tricky will all find a lower threshold easier.

Not sure which one suits your home? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help you choose.
